International Partnership

For nearly 20 years, Tri-County Early College and Herning Gymnasium, a high school in Herning, Denmark, have worked together in partnership to help young people expand their horizons through cultural exchange. With few exceptions, students and faculty from Herning Gymnasium have traveled to Murphy each year of the partnership to stay with host families, participate in school activities, share presentations about Danish life and culture, and learn from visiting many local cultural sites. Since 2023, students and faculty from TCEC have traveled to Herning to share presentations about American culture, participate in classes at the school, and stay with host families. In addition, students in each of TCEC’s global studies travel groups have visited other destinations while abroad, including Copenhagen, Paris, Rome, and Florence. 

The faculties of Herning Gymnasium and Tri-County Early College see these exchanges as excellent opportunities for students to broaden their perspectives and develop deeper appreciation for their own cultures as well as those of others. TCEC’s and Herning Gymnasium’s students look forward to these exchange opportunities each year.
