Mr. Jason Forrister

One student who shall remain nameless tried to convince me that a broken drum is an unbeatable gift. While I appreciate the student's humor, I do have to suggest an alternate response: Opportunity, a gift without equal, forms the cornerstone of the experience at TCEC. Opportunity draws students to TCEC because they are seeking educational and experiential advantages. Opportunity drives teachers and staff to work tirelessly to connect learning experiences to future possibilities. While at TCEC, students find ways to seek their bright horizons, some from Day 1 and some later in the journey. Regardless, the culture of lifelong learning and personal growth demands a natural outcome - the desire to create opportunities for others. Case in point, I love seeing student leaders bring new programs, such as chorus, to life at TCEC. Here’s another: I love seeing student leaders show by example, as students presenting portfolio conferences or students celebrating the excitement of next steps beyond graduation, how younger students can continue building TCEC’s legacy of promise to those who continue applying and creating learning in life. In the end, ladies and gentlemen, each of us, every day, has the occasion to make a positive difference for ourselves and for others. By choosing to live into the opportunities you have here and now, you become a better advocate for yourself and for others because you know the value of the gift you have. Always seek the rewards of opportunities that allow you to be your best and that empower you to give something positive to others. I am proud of you.
